Young Adults Project

Young Adults are increasingly seen as a distinct group in terms of their development and needs. This is no different when it comes to prison education.

PET received funding from Barrow Cadbury Trust to look into how to best meet these needs and increase educational opportunities for young adults in custody.

In May 2018 we held the first of three Young Adult Summits, bringing together HMPPS, charities, and former learners to consider how to best work with this group in the Criminal Justice System. The summit took place in the ballroom at the open prison HMP Askham Grange and the day was illustrated by Erika - herself a former prisoner who created the Postcards From Prison Diary series. Her drawings are in the slideshow below.

A full report will follow later in the year.
