Justice Data Lab Re-offending Analysis: Prisoners' Education Trust
Published: Jan 2014
This analysis assessed the impact on re-offending of PET’s provision of distance learning courses and arts and hobby materials. The one year proven re-offending rate for 3,085 offenders who received funding through Prisoners' Education Trust was 19% compared with 26% for a matched control group of similar offenders. This difference is statistically significant, meaning we can be confident that there is a real difference in the re-offending rate for the group who received funding for this purpose.
