Justice Data Lab analysis: PET employment and benefits outcomes

Ministry of Justice

This analysis investigates the employment and benefits outcomes of prisoners who received grants for distance learning through PET, compared with a group of similar prisoners who did not receive these grants.

The research, carried out by the Ministry of Justice Justice Data Lab (JDL), show that, in the first year out of prison, people funded by PET are more likely to be in employment and spend fewer days receiving out-of-work benefits.

The findings are an extension of the original analysis conducted by the Justice Data Lab to assess the impact of PET on reoffending.
