Join Shadow Justice Secretary David Lammy and our expert panel for a discussion on education, race & criminal justice.
David Lammy will be in conversation with former PET trustee and Chair of the Violent Crime Prevention Board, Dr Angela Herbert MBE.
8th September marks the third anniversary of The Lammy Review: An independent review into the treatment of, and outcomes for, Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic individuals in the Criminal Justice System.
Three years on, there has been too little progress on the report’s 35 recommendations to develop trust, fairness and responsibility, and disproportionality in the criminal justice system is still endemic.
Dr Herbert will also be joined by our expert panel to consider the links between disadvantage and discrimination in education and in criminal justice, followed by a Q&A:
Dr Karen Graham, Senior Lecturer in Faculty of Education, Manchester Metropolitan University
Dr Anthony Gunter, Programme Lead for Childhood and Youth Studies at the Open University
Raheel Mohammed, Director and Founder of Maslaha
Please note: This event will take place on Zoom and details will be sent to ticket holders the week of the event. If you have any questions, please email PET’s Policy Officer, Terese Jonsson.
