Pre and Postnatal Exercise

The course consists of five units:

  1. Understanding physical conditions associated with pregnancy
  2. Critical health and safety considerations
  3. Nutrition and pregnancy
  4. Planning pre- and post-natal exercise
  5. Anatomical and physiological changes during pregnancy

Entry Requirements: In order to be certificated for this course, students must already possess an accredited level 2 fitness or sport qualification

Assignments: Two assignments – a worksheet, and a case study to plan an exercise programme for a pregnant client across the three trimesters and beyond

Exams: Multiple choice exam on anatomy and physiology

Prison Support Requirements: Submitting assignments. The prison must give the name of the exam invigilator and proposed exam date to HFE, who liaise with the awarding body.
